Maryland approves $3.5 million settlement over Jordan McNair s death

Nearly two and a half years after the University of Maryland vowed to accept legal and moral responsibility for the death of Jordan McNair, state officials approved a $3.5 million settlement between the school and the football player s family Wednesday.
All the parties, including the school and the state attorney general s office, had signed off on the settlement, and Wednesday s approval from the Board of Public Works - the entity charged with overseeing state spending, including contracts and legal settlements - was the final step in the process.
