Hamzah’s ‘house arrest’ happened after security forces in Jordan arrested many high-profile figures as part of an ongoing security investigation concerned with national security.
The
Washington Post stated as many as 20 people were arrested for involvement in the alleged plot to unseat King Abdullah. The individuals detained include Bassem Ibrahim Awadallah, former head of the royal court, and Sharif Hassan bin Zaid, a member of the royal family.
