jared loughner. this prosthetics company is offering free artificial limbs, if the insurance doesn t cover them. jeff hager has the details. reporter: if the insurance covers them at all some will pay out $1,000. the cost for the device can run as much as 100,000. just off the baltimore beltway in a nondescript building a special company helps amputees rebuild their lives. this is a similar design. it s a big carbon fiber spring that allows them to propel themself and it doesn t look look a foot. reporter: the company is teaming with other prosthetic businesses across the country to provide artificial limbs to those who lost theirs in the terrorist bombing in boston. a life changing event, not just the limb loss but the shock and psychological trauma of going through something like this. the folks who have been this whether they ve lost a lem or not will need help. reporter: insurance will cover some of the victims but many may need different devices and the more
