The “School 2021” production team has responded to Kim Young Dae’s agency saying that the actor will no longer be starring in the upcoming drama.
The statement released on July 15 reads as follows:
Actor Kim Young Dae, who was cast in “School 2021,” signed a contract to star in the drama and also attended main actor meetings and script reading practice sessions. While preparing for the first filming session in July, his agency suddenly expressed that the actor will be leaving the drama without negotiating with the production team.
The production team and KBS have not agreed to actor Kim Young Dae’s departure [from the drama], and we are working to reach an amicable settlement.
Kim Young Dae will be joining WEi’s Kim Yo Han in KBS 2TV’s upcoming drama “School 2021” with a leading role!
Kim Yo Han is confirmed to play the male lead Gong Ki Joon (formerly named Do Bin), a hardworking student who takes on work and school at the same time and achieves his dream job after learning about love and friendship. Cho Yi Hyun is in talks to play the female lead opposite Kim Yo Han.
Kim Young Dae has been confirmed to star as Jung Young Joo, a transfer student with a hidden story and a past connection to Gong Ki Joon (Kim Yo Han). Regarding his casting, Kim Young Dae shared, “I’m grateful, and it’s wonderful that I got to star in the ‘School’ series. I’ll do my best so that all the viewers can enjoy watching the traditional ‘School’ series.” He added, “Young Joo from ‘School 2021’ has a backstory and a pitiable side, so my heart went out to him. I want to experience Young Joo’s anger, pain, and growth together.”
