Ravalli County RAC Will Review Project Proposals
Next week, the Ravalli County Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) will be looking at proposals for annual projects in the valley that could be funded by money from the federal Secure Rural School (SRS) Act.
Over the years, the committee has approved more than $2 million in resource projects that are on or directly benefit National Forest lands. In this case, it would be the Bitterroot National Forest.
There are some rules for the project proposals. The committee must designate at least 50 percent of all funding each year to restoring streams and watersheds, road maintenance, which could also be removal or decommissioning roads. Mainly, the committee will be looking at ideas to restore and improve forest health and water quality or working on infrastructure needs. They could fund up to $400,000 this year.
