The Jonesville Community Schools Board of Education recently selected Dustin Scharer as its next superintendent as the parties enter contract negotiations.
Scharer currently serves as the high school principal in Jonesville, a position that he has held for 10 years.
Previously, Scharer served Jonesville High School as a math and physical science teacher for nine years.
The other finalist was Erik Weatherwax, an elementary principal in Jackson.
The interview process included a presentation of a 90-Day Plan with questions from the board asked during and after the presentation. Input was provided to board members throughout the process by staff and community. Scharer will officially begin on July 1. The position became available as Chellie Broesamle announced her retirement after serving the district for 10 years as superintendent.
