Summer is holding on for dear life, and sending a miniature heat wave our way for this long weekend. For those of you not in Black Rock City, the Carson City region offers plenty of recreation and entertainment.
The leaves are changing, and the sweaters are coming out for the season. Chilly days are perfect for curling up with a good book: meet a local author at the Douglas Library this evening, you never know if you ll find a new favorite. Scott Tazbir has moved into the Backseat Gallery at Comma Coffee.
Let’s give this outdoors thing another try. Yesterday’s Jazz and beyond performances were moved indoors at the Brewery Arts Center when the rain hit, but I have more hope for today’s skies. Look for The Other Brothers Band this evening in the Comma Coffee Courtyard.
Welcome back, Wildcats. Western Nevada College kicks off a week of festivities at today with some free donuts and pizza. Those not headed back to school might be headed back to the Playa: Burning Man has begun, so keep your eyes peeled for some crazy looking cars on the road.
Let someone else take care of Sunday breakfast. The Elks Club’s monthly pancake breakfast starts at 8:30 a.m., but they’ll start serving bloody marys at 7 a.m. if you need some hair of the dog. Go for a strike at Carson Lanes with their Breakfast and Bowl special.
