Republicans celebrated the accomplishments of their supermajority, citing tax relief and some of their culture-related bills against drag shows and “obscene” materials, on the mark of the halfway point of the legislative session Friday.
The state House gave initial approval to bills that would clarify what role religion can play in public schools and possibly competing bills on notification requirements for sexual education.
The Montana Legislature hit the transmittal deadline Friday – the halfway mark of the 2023 session – after sending more than 550 bills to the other chamber in the first 45 days, including hundreds over the last few days.
