The chief deputy district attorney in Clark County, Nevada, has been labeled a “Disney Karen” after he wrote a newspaper commentary criticizing Disney World for political correctness.
In a guest column for the Orlando Sentinel, Jonathan VanBoskerck said he loved Disney World, but he is strongly rethinking his commitment to the amusement park because of wokeness. The New York Times and the Las Vegas Review-Journal have coverage.

Full disclosure: I’m what they call a Disney person. I love it all, the movies (obvi, I’m not heartless), the parks, the rides, the pure magic of the experience. Yes, I go to Disney World as an adult and I enjoy the hell out of it. But one thing I don’t like is the racism in some of the attractions. The outdated and offensive Jungle Cruise is cringeworthy, and the ode to Song of the South a movie that glorifies slavery and is so racist that Disney won’t release it on DVD or Disney+ that is Splash Mountain is a hard pass for me.

Jonathan VanBoskerck is deeply concerned. As Disney rolls out the latest revisions to its rules governing employee appearance standards at Disney parks, VanBoskerck had a few choice words for the company. A self-described Disney loyalist and deputy district attorney from Nevada, VanBoskerck has drawn the ire of social media due to his recent commentary in the
Orlando Sentinel, criticizing Disney for going “woke.” To VanBoskerck, Disney’s ongoing decisions to cultivate a more inclusive brand represents more than just calculated, corporate deliberation. To VanBoskerck, the Disney park experience is just the latest sacrifice at the altar of the Twitter gods, another casualty of appeasement in the never-ending culture war.

A possible former Disney fan has some complaints about the company being woke. He apparently is NOT happy with the Happiest Place on Earth.
Longtime Disney devoteee Jonathan VanBoskerck wrote an op-ed about changes being made at Disney theme parks.
Disney has recently updated its policies on inclusiveness for theme park employees, including allowing certain tattoos and gender expression.
A conservative, Van Boskerck wrote, “I’m not traveling across the country and paying thousands of dollars to watch someone I do not know express themselves.”
Do you agree that Disney is doing too much to be inclusive? Do you make trips to Disneyland or Disney World?
