FARGO (KVRR) – A Moorhead, Minn. man has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for participating in the May, 2020 riots in downtown Fargo.
Acting U.S. Attorney Nick Chase says 31-year-old Jonathan Montanez jumped on top of an occupied Fargo Police vehicle and slammed his fists on the police vehicle causing extensive
damage.
Chase says Montanez also provoked other protesters to become violent and destructive, which led to “many serious injuries” to law enforcement officers and thousands of dollars in damages to businesses.
“Jonathan Montanez took personal advantage of what was supposed to be a peaceful protest that day, to engage in criminal activity,” according to Minneapolis Special Agent in Charge, Michael Paul.
