KZN Matrics soar over Covid hurdles

DURBAN - KWAZULU-NATAL private school pupils excelled under difficult Covid-19 lockdown conditions with several making it on to national top-achieversâ lists.
According to the Independent Examination Board (IEB) results, there was a 98.07% pass rate, which is slightly lower than the 98.82% of 2019.
The IEB said all candidates who passed achieved marks that were good enough to enter tertiary study at one of the three levels.

KwaZulu-Natal private school pupils excelled under difficult Covid-19 lockdown conditions with at least 15 of them ranked in the top 5% in the country.
According to the Independent Examination Board (IEB) results, there was a 98.07% pass rate which is slightly lower than the 98.82% of 2019.
The IEB said all candidates who passed achieved marks that were good enough to enter tertiary study at one of the three levels.
KZN schools achieved exceptional results and 12 schools had pupils on both the outstanding and commendable achievements lists.
For pupils to make the outstanding list, they must have achieved in the top 5% in six or more subjects while to make the commendable list, they must achieve in the top 5% in five subjects.

Durban - Prestigious schools who wrote the Independent Examination Board (IEB) exams are optimistic about their matric results despite challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic last year.
Over 12 000 Grade 12 pupils who sat for the Independent Examination Board (IEB) exams will receive their results on Friday, almost two months later than the normal release date.
Anne Oberholzer, CEO of the IEB would not speculate on the results, saying Umalusi, a council for quality assurance, has not formally approved it.
However, she said it was interesting to note that the hard lockdown had differing impacts across schools.
