MPs voted 353 to 277 against an amendment that would have ensured greater democratic oversight over agreements that could have major impacts on food standards and environmental issues
Ministers will have the power to approve the import of lower-standard animal food products into the UK, after an attempt to amend the Trade Bill to give MPs a greater say on post-Brexit trade deals failed.
