WINNIPEG New public health orders came into effect on Saturday, allowing barbershops and salons to reopen at 50 per cent capacity. It s good news for The Weekend Hair Salon, which has been closed for almost two months. Ali Aldulaimi, the owner of the salon, said when the new health orders were announced, he received close to 100 phone calls in four hours. Now we re open for seven days a week for the first two weeks. (We re) trying to cover all the clients and keep them happy, and hopefully business goes back to normal, he said. Aldulaimi said being able to resume business is a blessing, but reopening at 50 per cent capacity makes it challenging to schedule employees.

For indoor dining, patrons seated together must be from the same household unless all patrons at the table are fully immunized. Patrons who are fully immunized and from different households may dine together. For outdoor dining, tables are limited to a maximum of eight patrons and can be from different households regardless of immunization status.
Kilgour said he feels the province rolled out the new restrictions in a way that promotes hospitality.
âIf it was household-only rule inside and outside, that would be really hard for us. Itâs hard to fight with people all of the time, itâs hard to keep that smile on your face when half the people in the restaurant are lying to you about where they live,â Kilgour said. âThey could have done this, opened us up with more restrictions and rules to follow, but they didnât and for that, Iâm grateful.
