Awardees announced for first-ever SoVTYP Professional Development Grant Program

Wed, 02/03/2021 - 5:36am tim “Let us help you help yourself”: Awardees Announced for the First-Ever Round of SoVTYPs Professional Development Grant Program Vermont Business Magazine The Professional Development Grant Program is the newest offering for Southern Vermont Young Professional members. The Southern Vermont Young Professionals (SoVTYPs) is a workforce initiative of Southeastern Vermont Economic Development Strategies (SeVEDS) and the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC). The SoVTYP mission is to attract, retain and support Young Professionals in Southern Vermont by providing engaging opportunities and networking through social and educational events, and volunteer opportunities. The pilot grant program was developed to support YP members who are advancing, or pivoting, their career by providing financial assistance to help them achieve those career goals. The first round of applications were due December 1st, 2020, with awardees notified on December 15

Broad Brook Community Center announces matching challenge

Thanks to a matching gift challenge, all donations received by January 31, 2021, will be doubled. The BBCC purchased the 1896 building from Broad Brook Grange three years ago, began raising funds for a complete renovation, and completed the first phase of work in 2018. The improvements particularly addressed accessibility and safety, and included a new entry ramp, ADA-compliant restrooms, and a fire escape. The second and major phase of renovation, which will begin in March 2021, includes the addition of a full basement, full weatherization, a sprinkler system, and a lift to the second floor auditorium. Local contractor Mathes Hulme Builders is in charge of the renovation, working with plans created by architect Jon Saccoccio and site plans by Stevens Associates.
