WIP s Jon Richie, among others, cannot understand why Lurie and Howie didn t hire a guy like Duce who would command the respect from the players day one.
That s the point. The locker room is fragile. Several veteran players texted Lurie to hire Duce. He didn t and the reason is obvious.
They won t be here. He told us that during his painful 41 minute presser. He s going to tear down and rebuild. The cap of course almost forces this to happen. So the plan appears to be bring in a new coach, coaching new players, and starting another Reid type era. No need for Duce to put the room back together. Wentz stays, gets new, young teammates who don t have reasons to dislike him (yet). Question now is what happens to Hurts? Does it make sense to cleanse the roster of interpersonal conflicts and keep a guy who probably feels he should be the starter?
