sergeant johnson and the three other soldiers getting killed. wilson also said that she feels for general kelly and his loss but that he is lying about her. we begin with the president s tweet calling her a liar. listen. my emphasis today is on my constituents and helping them lay our hero to rest. that s where my head is today and i m also concerned about him and his last moments. i want to know why he was separated from the rest of the soldiers. why did it take 48 hours for them to find him? was he still alive? was he kidnapped? what s going on? you re not alone. senator jon mccain, so many people are calling for an investigation into exactly what happened here so those questions can be answered.
it s a call of conscious for the rest of country. the president has the responsibility to set the tone. you saw general kelly be a command presence. he knows what it s like to send folks into battle and to lose someone and so that understanding was really important. i think that s part of why it was so compelling and he admitted the president doesn t know how to do this. he s a new politician. he didn t come up as a senator, governor learning how to do the ceremony, understanding the cultural competencesy. he s got a steep learning curve as the new president and the margin of error is very small. help us understand the needs of the family. the needs of returning service members and of families when they lose someone. it starts the grief. they have to have be around people who understand what they re going through and only will other gold star families can understand that, so groups like taps are on the ground to provide that support and
it should not be a political issue when our lost soldiers are earn canned. right and at the same time there should be an urgency in getting that information out. that s what started all this. absolutely. is wanting to know why and let s be honest. a lot of the pressure coming from lawmakers didn t happen until we started going after why we didn t hear anything for 12 days, whether it s mccain saying he ll use a subpoena. last two weeks we haven t heard anything from any of you guys. is it because you didn t know? well, it s because from my perspective, i was waiting for the investigation to tell us what had happened, so i think now we know that we need to provide some more urgency on that, that we need to get answers and we need to get them as soon as possible so that the public knows what is happened so that the families who have lost their soldiers in that ambush know what s happened. in all those same factors as a way of segue, the urgency,
thank you. we keep going back to what started all this. we still don t really know what happened with this deadly ambush. this is the largest loss of american military on trump s watch and at the hand of an opponent. john mccain, the senator s obviously threatened to issue a subpoena to get answers. is that necessary? joining us now is democratic senator jeanne shaheen. she serves on that armed forces committee with senator mccain. thank you for joining us. what do you know good to be with you. we don t know a whole lot about it as you ve said. there s an investigation under way. we know that our soldiers were out on what they thought was a routine patrol. they met isis fighters who were very well organized, were obviously anticipating the arrival of some kind of u.s. and african troops.
bernie sanders and first lady, michelle obama to go wake up and mobilize and organize the democratic vote that has been lurking inside red state arizona all these years. in addition to this big new investment in arizona, the clint campaign announced that they will also announce today they will be splitting $1 million in new investment between red state michelle obama and red state indiana. part of this may be just strategy to help the democrats in senate races and governors races. right. this is the state of the senate race in arizona where it s jon mccain against an kirk patrick. she s running a very aggressive campaign. this is the state of the senate race in michelle obama. missouri. this is the state of the senate race in indiana where it s former democratic senator evan versus republican todd young. all of those senate races are ones democrats would love to win on november 8.
