More than 100 vehicles were torched deliberately across Lincolnshire in a year, fire service figures show.
Over the course of a decade, fire crews in the area were called out to over 1,000 deliberate vehicle fires, 101 of them last year.
Arsonists torching vehicles are putting lives at risk and taking up time and resources from already stretched services, according to the Fire Brigades Union and the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC).
Since recording began in 1981, England’s fire and rescue services have attended more than a million deliberate vehicle fires, with nearly 8,500 incidents in 2020.
The chair of the NFCC described the thousands of mindless incidents as shocking and called on people to report vandals setting cars alight to the police.

Lincolnshire Police handed out eight fines after three house parties in the Ermine area of Lincoln, on the same evening COVID lockdown restrictions eased for outdoor hospitality and non-essential retail shops reopened.
Officers responded to three house parties on Monday, April 12 after the gatherings were reported at properties in Dunholme Court, Pine Close and Longdales Road.
Police said a relatively small number of people were found at each property, between six and 10 people. Those involved breached the national restrictions that are still in place for socialising indoors.

A driver caused devastating injuries to a Lincolnshire Police officer when she went to help him after he was found slumped over his steering wheel in a supermarket car park.
Daniel Noddings, 37, started his engine and reversed into DC Sara Willcock with his open door striking her before heading out of a parking bay at high speed.
The slightly-built officer was thrown to the ground suffering brain injuries so serious that doctors later told her she was lucky to survive.
