But according to township treasurer Jon Helmrich, she s a local treasure. Baumbach, 79, was officially set to retire from her position as the township s administrative assistant at the end of February.
She will continue working for the township part-time until a replacement is secured.
Baumbach was hired by the township in 1977 as part of a state-funded program to perform field work for the assessor s office. Back then, the cities of Saugatuck and Douglas were still unincorporated and were part of Saugatuck Township.
