Prince Albert RCMP officer Cst. Bernie Herman is charged in the death of 26-year-old Braden Herman. Police say the two were not related, but they did know each other. Chief Jon Bergen said police located Braden’s body north of Prince Albert, near Little Red River Park. “There was fairly reasonable cooperation from the accused in our findings of the victim and of the deceased and leading us to the arrest of the accused,” said Bergen.

An RCMP officer accused of killing 26-year-old Braden Herman provided investigators with details that led to his own arrest, the Prince Albert Police Service said Friday.
Police Chief Jon Bergen held a Friday evening media availability to discuss the investigation’s progress so far. He said Bernie Herman, the 32-year member of the RCMP who has been charged with first-degree murder in the incident, played a role in finding the victim’s remains and in providing information leading to his own arrest.

It appears a Prince Albert RCMP officer charged with first-degree murder provided details to police that would later lead to his arrest.
Corporal Bernie Herman, a 32-year veteran of the RCMP, is charged with murder in the death of 26-year-old Braden Herman of the Clearwater River Dene Nation.
Braden Herman’s body was found in a wooded area north of the city on Tuesday night.
Police say the two knew each other but were not related.
In a Zoom media conference Friday afternoon, Prince Albert Police Chief Jon Bergen gave an update on the investigation.
