Thibodaux man indicted in fatal New Year’s Eve shooting
A 20-year-old man accused of fatally shooting a Nicholls State University student and injuring another on New Year’s Eve has been indicted on murder charges, prosecutors said.
A Terrebonne Parish grand jury found enough evidence Thursday to charge Thibodaux resident Kamron Kajon Jacquot with first-degree murder. He is accused of killing 18-year-old Eric Thibodaux, a Nicholls freshman from Larose, at a party in Schriever.
He is also charged with the attempted first-degree murder of Matthew Badeaux.
An indictment does not presume guilt or innocence but indicates the grand jury found prosecutors presented enough evidence to warrant a trial on the charges.
