Taipei, April 28 (CNA) The computer-assisted war games portion of Taiwan s annual Han Kuang military exercises has been conducted in both Mandarin and English for years to prepare for possible operations with a foreign military, a recent Ministry of National Defense (MND) report revealed.
The report, released to brief the public on the military s achievements in 2020, said the MND has taken the measure to improve the English skills of military personnel and their ability to communicate with other forces.

The “tabletop” portion of this year’s Han Kuang military exercises began on Friday to test Taiwan’s defense strategies and tactics against a simulated attack by China.
The “tabletop drills” officially started at noon, with Minister of National Defense Chiu Kuo-cheng (邱國正) and Chief of the General Staff Admiral Huang Shu-kuang (黃曙光) overseeing the process at a command center, the Ministry of National Defense said.
The Han Kuang exercises are Taiwan’s largest annual war games and involve all branches of the armed forces. They are held annually in two stages: the tabletop drills and live-fire drills.

Taipei, April 23 (CNA) The computerized component of this year s Han Kuang military exercises was officially kicked off on Friday to test Taiwan s defense strategies and tactics against a possible military attack by China.
According to the Ministry of National Defense (MND), the exercises, known as tabletop drills officially started at noon, with Minister of Defense Chiu Kuo-cheng (邱國正) and Chief of the General Staff Huang Shu-kuang (黃曙光) personally overseeing the process at the command center.
