Aldabaiba meets Macron, Minister of Armed Forces Parly and Foreign Minister Le Drian during Paris visit

London, 3 June 2021: Libya’s Prime Minister Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba met French President Emmanuel Macron, Armed Forces Minister Florence Parly and Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian during his Paris visit on Tuesday. During the joint press conference with Macron, Aldabaiba expressed his happiness at the official return of relations under the government and institutions of a unified state, adding that France has a role in strengthening the Libyan sovereign decision in international forums, especially the upcoming Berlin 2 conference and its outcomes. He stressed France’s important role in strengthening political legitimacy in Libya and the importance of continuing this role in its support for the extension of national sovereignty, the expulsion of mercenaries, and the unification of the military institution.

There are also those who are looking for justifications to keep the Turkish forces and mercenaries in the country, and those who reject, not only the presence of Field Marshal Haftar as the head of the army, but the very existence of a national army. They want to substitute for the army a national guard that would simply protect the borders and facilities and not interfere with the warlords, smuggling barons, terrorist groups and those involved in corruption and plundering of public money and the thieves of oil and budget allocations.
