Feb. 5 (UPI) Authorities arrested a man who allegedly breached the Maryland Air Force base that houses Air Force One the day before President Joe Biden was scheduled to take his first flight on the plane as president.
Air Force Office of Special Investigations spokeswoman Linda Card told the Military Times that investigators interviewed the unauthorized individual who gained prohibited access to Joint Base Andrews on Thursday.

A man is in custody for allegedly breaking into Joint Base Andrews and slipping onto a plane that s typically used to transport top government officials.
JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - Joint Base Andrews officials say a man gained unauthorized access to the Maryland military base that houses Air Force One on Thursday.
According to a press release shared on Friday, the man gained unauthorized access to the flight line and entered a C-40 aircraft assigned to the 89th Airlift Wing.

The Public Affairs office of the 316th Wing at Joint Base Andrews has issued an official media release about the security incident at the base on February 5, 2021. The official release follows early indications on social media and other reports that the incident had involved a smaller Gulfstream C-37 transport. The official acknowledgement of the incident confirms that the aircraft involved was a larger Boeing C-40 VIP transport, a military version of 737 airliner.
Man arrested after boarding plane in US government VIP fleet at Joint Base Andrews
A man gained access to a C-40 aircraft on Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Thursday that’s part of a fleet frequently utilized by senior government leaders, the base said in a statement Friday.
The US Air Force Inspector General has been directed to investigate the breach and the Air Force will also launch a comprehensive review of installation security and trends, according to a statement by the military branch.
The 316th Wing Public Affairs said in the statement that the man had “gained unauthorized access to the flightline and entered a C-40 aircraft assigned to the 89th Airlift Wing. Joint Base Andrews Security Forces responded, detained and interviewed the individual. US Air Force Office of Special Investigations assisted with the interview.”
