27bn/- gap in Health Basket Fund 12 27bn/- gap in Health Basket Fund ​​​​​​​CONTRIBUTIONS to the Health Basket Fund a kitty supported by various development partners to improve health services in the country have fallen by over 27bn/- from July 2020 to March this year. Presenting budget estimates to the National Assembly here yesterday, the Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children Dr Dorothy Gwajima,  said the ministry received 59bn/- for the fund from July 2020 to March 2021, down from 86.2bn/- received from development partners for a similar period in the 2019/2020 financial year. This translates to a fall in contributions by 27.1bn/-, where 55.8bn/- or equals to 95 per cent of the donations was disbursed to local government authorities to improve primary healthcare, she said, with the remainder put at 3.1bn/- spent on various activities in the ministry, she stated
