CAMPAIGNERS hoping to have the missing rail line between Skipton and Colne reinstated have launched a video. SELRAP (Skipton and East Lancs Rail Action Partnership wants a brand new trans-Pennine route to connect East Lancashire, Yorkshire and beyond. The Join Us Up campaign says just 12 miles of track will mean Colne to Leeds direct would take just 50 minutes to travel. Two trains would be scheduled per hour, ideal for students, leisure and commuting. Campaigners are lobbying for a new train station to be built at Earby and improvements at Colne, along with the reinstatement of the 12-mile route. There would be additional freight trains easing congestions on the roads and making it better for road users. It would create a coast-to-coast rail corridor.
