JOHOR BAHRU: Johor police issued 3,885 compounds for violations of Covid-19 prevention standard operating procedure (SOP) from Jan 13 to May 12 this year.
Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said Johor Bahru Selatan police district had the highest number of compounds with 702, followed by Segamat district (677), Kulai district (530) and Iskandar Puteri district (516).
“For Segamat, for example, it is a small district but the number of compounds is high. Therefore, we will focus on roads and routes bordering other states in the area to ensure that no individual tries to cross the border to return for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

BAHRU: Police have arrested five male teenagers for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old schoolboy in front of a school in Taman Daya here.
Johor Bahru Selatan district police chief ACP Mohd Padzli Mohd Zain said the teenagers, aged between 15 and 17, were nabbed on the day of the incident on April 8, after the victim lodged a police report at the Setia Indah police station here.
In the report lodged at 10.45 pm, the schoolboy claimed that he was beaten up by five unknown teenagers when he was talking with a friend in front of the school.

JOHOR BAHRU: A foreigner whose body was found in a drain in Jalan Tampoi Lama here yesterday is believed to be the victim of a hit-and-run accident, police said today.
Johor Bahru Selatan district police chief ACP Mohd Padzli Mohd Zain said traffic police were informed of the discovery of the body at 10.20 am.
Preliminary investigations at the scene showed that the male foreigner was believed to have been hit by an unidentified vehicle at about 9 am on the same day.
“He is believed to be walking on the left road shoulder when he was hit and flung into the drain,” he said in a statement.
