Rebecca Luker’s name to grace the stage at her alma mater in Alabama

Rebecca Luker, an actress, singer and Broadway star, was born in Helena, Alabama, and attended the University of Montevallo. She was nominated for Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards and earned fame for her immaculately clear, operatic soprano. Luker died on Dec. 23, 2020, at age 59 due to complications from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.(Jemal Countess/Getty Images)
