Officials to fight removal of dam | News, Sports, Jobs

bcoupland@tribtoday.com WARREN TOWNSHIP –Warren Township officials said they will fight the removal of the Leavttsburg dam and plan to meet shortly to see what options are available. Meeting in person with the public for the first time in more than a year due to the coronavirus pandemic, township trustees Tuesday indicated they were not surprised by the decision by the Trumbull MetroParks board last Thursday to proceed with removal of the dam. The MetroParks owns the dam located near the intersection of West Market Street and North Leavitt Road. Trustee Chairman Ryan Yoho said he was concerned trustees were not involved more in the discussions with the MetroParks.

WARREN City resident Sue Gillespie said she never imagined a group she helped start in the spring of 1996 for people who liked miniature art would have lasted a year, let alone still be around 25 years later. Members of the Warren Area Miniatures Club gathered Sunday afternoon at the Warren SCOPE Center to celebrate their 25th anniversary and share memories of what they like about the club. Jean Smith of Warren, a 25-year member and president of the group, said many members make smaller-scale items for doll houses, which they assemble and paint.
