Long-range post-kidney transplant corticosteroids may not be necessary for most patients, researchers reported.
In new long-term data (median 15.8 years) on 191 patients who withdrew from corticosteroids 7 days after undergoing a kidney transplant, versus 195 patients who continued steroids, there was no significant difference in the risk of allograft failure from any cause including death (adjusted hazard ratio 0.83, 95% CI 0.62-1.10,
