They were in their 20s and looking forward to a future of service and family. They were war heroes and silently serving family members. All of them understood the meaning of service and made a lasting mark on the lives of their loved ones. Of the more than 550,000 Americans who have died from COVID-19, 328 were U.S. troops, military family members and civilian workers. At least another 11,000 have been veterans a community hit hard by a virus to which older adults are particularly susceptible.
