we also heard that the middle school and the high school have also been severely damaged. so even though it is getting later in the day, the full effect of this storm that rolled through this small town in north georgia is still yet to be seen. that s the latest from here in ringgold. back to you, andrea. thanks so much, chris warren. johnnie isaacson joins us on the phone from atlanta. senator, those pictures are just unbelievable. what can local officials, state officials do? what do you want to see from the federal government? well, it s devastating, andrea. we had a devastating tornado about four years ago in americus, georgia, but i believe this may be the worst of all. i ll be meeting with the governor at 3:30. the governor hassi issued a proclamation, and the entire delegation, republican and democrat, from congress are doing a joint letter to the president, asking for the president to also declare them as a disaster area to deploy the
back to the 1907 tornado that devastated janesville, georgia, georgia unfortunately has been ground zero for some very horrific storms. how much is there any kind of way of estimating what the damage and what reconstruction is going to cost? well, we ve had entire schools destroyed. we ve had infrastructure destroyed. tva i had a conference call this morning with a member of the authority, 9 million customers and 1.5 million without power and one of the mainly transitions lines was destroyed. so you re talking about hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars. i would not be surprised for it to go into the billions. extraordinary and tremendous tragedy. and our sympathy with everyone down there. thanks so much, senator. thanks for joining us today. and also making headlines at this hour, in a surprise move, bitter palestinian rival factions, hamas and fatah have ended their five-year feud and formed a single government with
