Kingston’s medical officer of health says that a recently identified variant of concern in a local case of COVID-19 presents no community threat or risk.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting no new cases for the third time in four days.
Staff note that two people have recovered since their last update on Sunday.
There are now a total of 18 active cases in the region. The seven-day case rate per 100,000 is now 5.3.
Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Public Health is also reporting no new cases today. Staff say the region now has a total of 16 active cases.
Staff from that health unit did announce today, that the first case of the UK variant has been detected in Kingston.
Dr. Kieran Moore, Medical Officer of Health, says that anyone in these categories, should get a COVID-19 test regardless is they have symptoms or not.
