Chalfont’s new developments impact taxes
The finance committee of Chalfont Borough Council will soon begin its review and debate of next year’s budget and that discussion will include whether or not local property taxes should be increased or stay the same.
A (July 6) Wall Street Journal article appears to vindicate my position of a few years ago when I was vice president of council and led the finance committee in many debates to actually consider reducing property taxes for our residents.
The idea was received by borough staff, council leadership and a majority of members with disbelief. They all expressed a “we should never do this” attitude.
