Members of the Sandwich Bikeways and Pedestrian Committee this week expressed delight that a BMX track could be coming to South Sandwich and said they are hoping a “pump track” will also be included in the plan. A pump track is similar to a skate park in that it has jumps, bumps and curves that allow bikers to use their body movements and gravity—rather than pedaling—to navigate around the course’s circuit, committee members said. Committee member Peter G. Marancik said during the committee’s Monday, December 14, meeting that he had spoken with Cape Cod BMX and was informed that a pump track is already under consideration.
