Dates set for Lehigh University’s in-person commencement

Lehigh University has set the dates for its in-person commencement ceremonies, for both the Class of 2020 and Class of 2021.
Separate ceremonies are planned for undergraduates in the Class of 2020, for undergraduates in the Class of 2021, and for graduate students in the Classes of 2020 and 2021. Additionally, a single, virtual commencement address will be delivered for all graduates. The current schedule is as follows:
Virtual Commencement Address and Celebration Kickoff: 1 p.m. Friday, May 21: Featuring Terry Hart ’68, former NASA astronaut and Lehigh mechanical engineering and mechanics professor.
$5 million gift to fund Lehigh University Art Galleries
The gift from Kenneth R. Woodcock 65 will preserve LUAGs teaching collection and enhance art education.
BETHLEHEM, PA
.- A $5 million gift made by arts philanthropist Kenneth R. Woodcock 65 will endow a directors fund for the Lehigh University Art Galleries. The Woodcock Directors Fund will ensure the protection and preservation of the universitys teaching collection and fulfill the full potential of LUAG as a driver for arts education and engagement for both students and the community.
The fund represents the largest gift ever given to LUAG and will be administered by Director William Crow. Woodcock shares Crows vision that art can be an interdisciplinary engine for teaching, learning, and research.

Lehigh University has rescinded Trump’s honorary degree
Lehigh University, a private college in Pennsylvania, has revoked the honorary degree it awarded President Donald Trump more than 30 years ago.
The decision was affirmed by the school’s Board of Trustees on Friday, the school said in a brief announcement. CNN asked the university for further comment, but did not receive any additional information.
Trump received the honorary degree when he spoke at the university’s commencement ceremony in 1988.
Jeremy Littau, a journalism professor at Lehigh, called the move a “big deal” on Twitter.
“After FIVE years of pressure from our faculty, staff, students and alumni, the Lehigh Board of Trustees finally did the right thing and revoked Donald Trump’s honorary degree,” Littau wrote. “This doesn’t fix everything.
