CFGC, the first commercial station in Brantford, had its studios in the Kerby House Hotel on Colborne Street.

It opened on March 17, 1926, with Herbert White as the station manager. A little more than a year later, on June 3, 1927, the station closed because of financial problems.

In March, 1926, John D. Patterson opened his radio station, CKCR, in his home on Main Street in St. George. He later rented the second floor over the Bank of Montreal where he set up his broadcasting equipment.
