Anambra State Police Command have arrested a 28-year-old man, Chukwuemeka Obijofa, for allegedly hacking his wife Chisom Chukwuemeka, 26 years old and their four-year-old child, Amanda Chukwuemeka to death with a shovel at Ofufe Nza Village in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State on Tuesday.
CSP Haruna Mohammed who confirmed the incident in a statement said the suspect may have suffered some insanity as he reportedly ran amok in circumstances yet to be ascertained.
He was said to have equally used the same shovel to attack a local vigilante man who had tried to rescue the victims.
On getting a report of the attack, detectives had visited the scene where the victims were picked and rushed to a hospital at Ozubulu. They were however certified dead on arrival by a medical doctor, PPRO added.

Police operatives in Anambra have arrested one Chukwuemeka Obijofa of Ofufe Nza village in Ekwusigo LGA.
The 28-year-old was arrested by officers attached to Ozubulu Police Station, for allegedly attacking and killing his wife and child.
The victims Mrs. Chisom Chukwuemeka, ‘f’, aged 26 years, and Amanda Chukwuemeka, ‘m’, aged 4 years, were attacked by Obijiofa who is said to have run amok following a yet to be ascertained circumstance.
Police authorities say Obijiofor killed his wife and child by hitting them on their heads with a shovel.
The suspect equally used the same object and wounded a vigilante man who tried to rescue the victims.

A 28 years old man identified as Mr Chukwuemeka Obijofa has killed his wife and only child with a shovel.
No reason was given for his action, but it was gathered that he suddenly attacked the woman and his child with a shovel, killing both of them.
A vigilante operative who tried to rescue the victims but was also injured by the man is said to be responding to treatment.

The incident took place on Saturday, while the deceased was on duty along Alexander Road in Ikoyi.
LAWMA confirmed his death in a statement, adding that there is an insurance to cover the safety of its workers.
