YOUNGSTOWN Bishop David Bonnar of the Diocese of Youngstown will celebrate a memorial Mass and dedicate the Homeless Jesus sculpture in memory of the Rev. Nicholas Shori on the fifth anniversary of his death.
Officials said upon his passing on April 20, 2016, Shori made a gift to the Diocese for the installation of the Homeless Jesus sculpture at the Diocesan Central Offices in downtown Youngstown.
Shori served as the longtime pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Parish in New Middletown and the diocesan director of the Office of Evangelization, among many other positions and ministries throughout the Diocese of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.

Fire crews from the Hubbard Eagle Joint Fire District and other fire departments were called Monday evening to a fire at St. Patrick Parish in Hubbard, believed to have started in the basement. Smoke was seen coming from the back of the main church building.
HUBBARD Crews from several fire departments were called Monday evening to control a fire at St. Patrick Parish on North Main Street.
Mayor Ben Kyle, a member of the parish, said he went to the scene where other people were watching from the sidewalks as fire crews went into the back of the building. Smoke was seen coming from the building.

YOUNGSTOWN –The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown Office of Religious Education has named Margaret “Margie” Hynes as the new consultant for religious education and library services effective this month.
Hynes is currently the parish director of religious education for St. Rose Parish in Girard where she works with Monsignor John Zuraw.
Zuraw said “Margie has contributed greatly to the catechetical program at St. Rose. Her great passion for faith formation had made a lasting impact upon the parish.”
Hynes’ academic background in education and theology is from Brenau University, Georgia and Loyola University of New Orleans respectively. In addition to faith formation at St. Rose Parish, Hynes also served in youth ministry, children’s ministry, marriage ministry and sacramental preparation at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Austin-town.
