Neither the Meade High principal nor Athletic Director Kevin Rutledge had ever seen anything like it. It was the start of Saturday night's game against Bethesda-Chevy Chase for the state title in boys basketball at the Xfinity Center in College Park. Peyton Easton, a teacher at MacArthur Middle School was singing the national anthem when he collapsed. A Meade players knew Easton, having attended MacArthur. Easton was placed on a stretcher and wheeled off the court. Meade students began praying

Dec. 8 was Unity Day in Anne Arundel County Public Schools, and members the group One Pasadena: Addressing Racism decided to decorate the sidewalk outside the school with messages supporting the LGBTQ community as well as Black Lives Matter in advance, despite the cold weather.
