Reporter a hero is how a family and extended family members tell us that they are remembering the 61yearold john yates who was killed last night right inside his la plata home. Police say it was after 8 00 last night when the father of john john yates went inside the home looking for his daughter. There was a confrontation. Then the childs fire of waldorf, de anglo hemsley forced his daughter by knife point into a vehicle. The child managed to escape. Police catching hemsley who was trying to get away. Its a hurting thing, it really is. Reporter brothers Francis Dorothy and fellow yates says that they were protective. He would never hurt anybody knowing him. His him. If he hadnt done what he had done, no telling what would have happened to his little kid. Reporter it was after 8 00 when the grandfather went into the 71yearolds home unannounced looking for his 12 yearold daughter. Police says that yates was home, there was a confrontation. And then police say that the childs father 39yearold Deangelo Hemsley stabbed him 30 times. The child managed toes cape. Police catching hemsley who tried to get away. The Smithsonian Associates hosted this event. It is a little under two hours. He is a historian with the Central Intelligence agency. He joined the u. S. Government in 1986 as a staff historian at the army center of military history, where he served for 14 years before he joined the cia. During his time with the agency he also served in rotational assignments as deputy and chief historian at the National Reconnaissance office and at the office of director of National Intelligence. Dr. Laurie has taught at the American University and university of maryland at baltimore county. He specializes at the history of intelligence.
