Tuesday s letters: Supporting universities is about our survival

Article content Humanity faces immense challenges in the environment, medicine, technology, economics, politics, and education really all spheres of life. The world is on a precipice and requires unprecedented innovation to bridge the gap to a positive future. Universities teach, research and develop innovation and educate a public ready to adopt change. The scientists that created COVID vaccines in record time were trained at universities. The incredible feat of landing on Mars was achieved by university-trained engineers. Research in alternate power sources, reduction of CO2, and environmental protection is being conducted at universities. We apologize, but this video has failed to load.

Friday s letters: Keystone loss is Kenney s latest stumble

Article content Premier Kenney’s latest outrage has him demanding sanctions against the U.S.A. What a brilliant move against our largest trading partner in the first week of a new administration. Perhaps we can hit them hard and cut off the cross-border flow of maple syrup! President Biden has been clear for years that he would cancel the Keystone XL pipeline permit yet Kenney insisted on entering into another poor decision to waste Alberta tax funds by investing in this pipeline. Kenney has the same fatal character flaw as Trump, which is to lash out at others for his own failings. Fortunately, cooler heads will prevail in Ottawa.
