Three-year-old Arlo Palmer rode his bike through the gate to get a badge for his first Brass Monkey. “There s a whole lot goes on behind the scenes that they’re (participants) not privy to and some of those are compliance costs.” The first rally was held in 1980 and attracted about 300 motorcyclists. The event peaked in 1990 with about 5000 riders, but numbers had dwindled in recent years.
