Broadcaster From Elmhurst Dies At 93

UpdatedSun, Jan 24, 2021 at 2:08 pm CT Reply This obituary is provided by the family: ELMHURST, IL Edward Ronne, Chicago broadcaster and communications leader, died peacefully on January 19. Born Norphin Edward Ronne on January 16, 1928 in Grand Forks, ND, to Jorand and Gust Ronne, he would later go by his middle name. Loving husband to Sandra (nee Holt), Ed is survived by four children, 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, half-brother Finn Espeland, numerous other relatives, and countless friends. Ed was preceded in death by Sandra, his parents, and by siblings Krist (Lebakken), Gordon, Emma (Carter), and Rev. Reuben Ronne. In 1946, Ed enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as Chief Mechanic on F-80 Shooting Star fighter jets in the 1st Fighter Group, 27th Squadron at March Air Force Base. He was honorably discharged in 1949.
