capitol police chased him a few blocks. as he made the turn from louisiana avenue, police say white lost control of the car, the air bags deployed. with his driver s-side door blocked, law enforcement sources say that white crawled out of the driver s side window with a gun looking like this. a mach 11 machine pistols. the officers were in fear for their life, felt threatened. this sounded like fire crackers. there was a pause and more. reporter: law enforcement sources familiar with the case say that white got off at least one round before officers opened fire. sources say the gun slid underneath the police cruiser. as he struggled to retrieve the gun, the officers fired a second vol volley of shots. it doesn t end there. the officers noticed he was still breathing and began cpr and continued until paramedics arrived. three police officers fired at white. three others suffered minor injuries. sources say alert officers may have averted a friendly-fire situation when th
