Saulsgood and driver Jason Merriman equaled the trotting track record for four-year-old geldings in the Open Trot Friday night, taking the mile in 1:57.
The Friday spotlight at Northville Downs was on race five as six-year-old pacing mare Coqui Coqui and driver Justin Irvine captured the $9,500 Mares Open Handicap Pace in 1:55.2 by a widening 2-3/4 lengths.
The six-year-old daughter of Sportswriter, Coqui Coqui (named after a species of a Puerto Rican frog), leapt from the pocket in the lane to get up for the victory in the co-featured $10,800 Mares Open Pace on Friday, May 26 at Northville Downs.
