welcome back. emma and john got engaged over the phone this october as john was in basic training for the air force. upon his return emma planned a surprise at the airport. as she was waiting there, she s the one that got the surprise. each passenger getting off that plane and handing her those single roses and ultimately john gets down on one knee and he proposes in person. just last weekend, they got married and joining us now from their honeymoon airman first class john greco and his new bride, emma. congratulations. we re so happy for you guys. thank you so much. happy new year. so whose idea was it for every passenger on that plane to get a rose to give to emma? i have to say my mom nancy gave me the idea. and i was just going to come off the plane and propose to her. but i think the roses just like, what really added to it, i really wanted to make her feel
special. how did you feel at that moment? i felt very surprised cause john is so good at doing surprises and i felt very special and loved. john, where did you get all those roses? i know that you were just coming back from basic training. i don t know that there is a great florist where you were. i was actually at tech school in monterey california coming back from there. so i did have access to flowers. but thankfully her mom kind had a friend that worked for delta and her friend had flowers waiting for me at the gate to pass out right before they got off the plane. so emma your mom was behind a lot of this and you had no idea? nope. not one bit. tell us your story. you met in college and then you got engaged over the phone while you were in basic training. is that right, john? yes. well, what happened was we had not been able to speak over
the phone at all for about four weeks and i knew during the fourth week i d have a phone call. but when john trial had the chance to do the phone call, i was actually rock climbing at the rock climbing gym in kalamazoo. my friend was trying john was trying to get ahold of my roommate to get ahold of me at the rock climbing gym and we only had two minutes to talk by the time i got to my phone. and we basically both just kind of blurted out to each other that we want to do spend the rest of our lives together. and john what were people saying when you asked them to participate, when you handed them a rose like they just won the bachelor and you said, hey, can you please help me go and propose to my girlfriend? oh, everybody was so accommodating. everybody wanted to help out. the first 12 people i picked, like all wanted to participate. it wasn t hard at all finding volunteers, that s for sure. so fun. so you got married last weekend.
