Hayden, and i loved your response to that. Well, thank you. Does anybody else have a question . Do you have a question, sir . Thank you. Just a question about the Montgomery County Library System which is really important here. Since one out of three people here were born in another country, here in gaithersburg and a few others called the english conversation club, ive been with it for about ten years where we teach immigrants english, we help them learn the culture, help them, you know, get a drivers license, help many of them become citizens. And recently were talking about technology, i started broadcasting our meetings live on facebook live, and weve had thousands of people around the world watching the meetings from the Montgomery County library. Thank you. Gentleman in the back. I just wanted to say one of the best things about living in Montgomery County is the great Library System and the great Staff Members they have there. How with libraries offering an everexpanding variety
How much you want them to ensure that we can continue to get Library Services and please, when we put out a call that we need your support, please do so. We dont have money for pacs, we dont have a lot of money, we are not wealthy people. So we depend on what you call grassroots and that is normal people picking up the phone or emailing their member of congress or their senator or their governor and saying we want you to support libraries. The mayor, the governor, the United States Congress Needs to know that and respect that and make sure that that happens going forward. And that a takes hundreds and thousands of calls from people like you. I couldnt have said it better. What a great point. We have, i think, time for maybe a question or two. Does anybody in the audience have a question . If not, i will go on. Its not a question, but i wanted to thank you very much for your comment about dr. Carla hayden, and i loved your response to that. Well, thank you. Does anybody else have a ques
Course. Very own peter barnes, he snagged an exclusive interview with a top Federal Reserve official well get to. Michael, start with you first. We have the dow. It hit its sixth Straight Year of gains and now what . Yeah, well thats a great question. I think one of the things that people have to ask themselves is over the last six years weve seen the market increase about 150 . That, that question you have to ask yourself is, how much longer can it continue. I think people are getting skeptical where the market is, how long it will stay there. People need to start looking taking some gains off the table and waiting to see what might happen in 2015. Cheryl well get to peter and the fed in a second. Phil oil it is really what it is all about. People have money in their pocket because oil prices are down. How much longer does that last . I think the prices will stay down pretty much all of next year. Well hit a low of 44. Maybe lower. I think well recover in the second half of the year.
400 million more is not going to get it done. The administration claims they have 62 nations with us in this fight but only four of those countries are actually engaged and one of those four is qatar. They are the ones that gave money to isis. Its a good start. The president is forced to follow through. The middle east knows the nations fighting this force know we dont have our hearts in it. The 400 million in that sense is a down payment. The key thing is follow through. Otherwise, its going to falter again. I would think that after that last video that we saw of the guy being burned to death in a cage that everybodys heart would be in this fight. Thats right. Thats a turning point. Right now the fight is at a turning point. Give jordan what it needs. Jordan is not needing boots on the ground yet. It needs the military hardware and expertise. Even the Armed Services is say that too. We have a president who is ambivalent and this teacher faculty lounge outlook. We need an fdr or reagan
And john tammy. John, y would we want them to do anything with this if this is what we get . Its a reminder that bipartisan is the most overrated concept in politics. Any time the two parties get together, weve always got to watch our wallets. In this case, its a normally expensive bill and violates the most basic concept in economics which is comparative advantage. Rick, cooperation usually mes more spending. More spending means more pork and thats not good for the economy. Well, lets tear that apart a little bit. Nobody is going to disagree when we say pork. Intellectually, its a terrible, terrible thing to do and should not drive legislation. What fascinates me, however, well beyond our recent years its always been pork and its always been earmarks that are used to get an agreement. The question you need to ask is y. Why do these politicians require this before they vote the way they should and if they are going to do it anyhow, maybe we should bring earmarks back because at least w
