Thank you, soldier. My prepared text today was to have been make thy name be remembered in all generations, but i think im going to depart from my prepared sermon. While i was listening to the sergeants solo, i kept looking up at our service flag. I was thinking of the men in service. I see some of them here this morning. Private roberts. Sergeant jackson. Lieutenant carter. And private parks, first class. First class is right. I was over at the uso the other night and i met somebody i hadnt seen in quite a long time. The last time i saw this man, well, one of my members treated me to a ticket to Yankee Stadium to see joe lewis versus maksymilian. In one minute and 49 seconds, an american fist won a victory. But it wasnt the final victory. No, that victory is going to take a little longer and a whole lot more american fists. Now, those two men that were matched in the ring that night are matched again. This time in a far greater arena and for much greater stakes. Max schmeling in the a
Amended. Without objection. Mr. Bilirakis i yield myself such time as i may consume. The speaker pro tempore the gentleman is recognized. Mr. Bilirakis i rise today in support of h. R. 3705, the veterans fair debt notice act of 2017 introduced by representative pingree of maine. This bill would help ensure that beneficiaries who have received an overpayment from v. A. Clearly under v. A. s current practice, when the department determines that a beneficiary may have received an overpayment, it sends a letter to the beneficiary that explains why the debt was created and how the veteran can dispute or mitigate the debt. But if v. A. Doesnt have the veterans current address, the veteran may miss important dead linals. For example, if the beneficiary intends to request a full waiver of their debt, but does not request that waiver within 30 days of the date of the letter, v. A. May take action to withhold benefits until the waiver request is adjudicated. Sounds confusing, it certainly is. We
Vips come into this space just as they did in Lyndon Johnsons day. But its not open to our visitors on a daily basis. And the remarkable thing about this space is its really a living, breathing artifact. It hasnt changed at all since president johnson died in january 1973. Theres a document in the corner of this room signed among others, the the then archivist of the United States and Lady Bird Johnson telling my predecessors, myself and my successors that nothing in this room can change. So were here at the 100 block of congress avenue in austin. To my left just down the block is the river, the colorado river. And this is an important Historic Site in the citys history because this is where waterloo, austins predecessor, was. It consisted of a cluster of cabins occupied by four or five families, including the fame of jay carol. Im standing about the same spot where the the cabin was, and this is where lamar was staying when he and the rest of the men got wind of this big buffalo herd

At 77 actor activist george takei has countless films and tv series under his credit but hes most known for star trek. And speaking out on issues like Marriage Equality and a formal apology for the internment of the japanese americans in world war ii. As well as thousands of other americans wrongly imprisoned during that war. A new story of his life comes to theaters, i love the title, to be takei. Our west coast became a potential combat zone. Living in that zone were more than a hundred thousand persons of japanese ancestry. My life has been transformed almost as fantastically as Science Fiction. Because as a boy i looked out on the world imprisoned by a barb wire fences of american entertainme internment camps. You know i think it is hard, george, for many americans, certainly those borne of a certain generation to even imagine their government could or would or more expressly did Something Like
