shannon: and joe manchin was on the show. months ago it looked like he had an easy path to the seat in the senate. he polled favorably with west virginians but he is in a neck in neck race there. this is the strangest race in the country. 68% approval as governor. as senate candidate he s endorsed by the u.s. chamber of commerce and national rifle association. in a flat-footed tie with john raese. it s about obama. they like him as governor, and want him to stay as governor but obama has 33% approval rating in west virginia and raese is making the argument when manchin goes to washington, he will be washington joe and another vote for the obama agenda. that is hurting joe manchin. shannon: was he able to demonstrate a break with the president when it comes to policy issues? yeah. he now says he is against cap-and-trade and very much against a lot of healthcare reform. the problem is that he has been all over the map on the
endorsed by the u.s. chamber of commerce and the national rifle association. but according to the polls you are leading your opponent businessman john raese by one and a half points, basically a dead heat and in some polls you are trailing him. question, how come? a competitive race. a different time. i can t explain it, no more can you, chris. people are starting to look at who has performed in west virginia and been here and fought the fights. six years ago i said when i became governor i thought we could do better. i didn t want the politics as usual democratsship fighting or business and labor fighting. i brought them all together and said leave your politics at the door and let s put west virginia first and fix things and we did it and our state is in much better state than any state in the nation because of it. chris: one reason you may be in a tight race and that is
traition which we are doing in west virginia. we the ability to use the coal in more attractive from the standpoint. china is using more coal than ever. chris: i do want to give you an opportunity to talk about your opponent john raese. you question whether he is even a legal resident of west virginia but his campaign says that he pays income and part taxes in your state. chris, what we are talking about is setting your priorities. where do you want to be, where have you set your, where have you really laid your claim and spend your time and try to fix the problems that we have. my opponent as his family have homestead enjoy the home exemption in palm beach, florida. we are saying is all the income produced and all the income that is by the family being paid taxes in west virginia supporting our state. in those are legitimate questions to be asked. i can assure you that my wife and i every penny of income we had our taxes were paid in west virginia. people going to look at the
virginia, and, people say openly and some of raese s ads, the opponent, john raese says he like joe, let s keep him in the state house in west virginia but are concerned as raese says if he goes to washington the governor will be washington joe and will support the barack obama agenda and people in west virginia hate the agenda, especially cap-and-trade, which is a coal producing state and don t like something which they think would gut the coal industry in west virginia. jamie: do you think that is a team, chris? chris: i m sorry? jamie: do you think it is a theme, somebody that popular could be impacted by what is going on in washington now, and we will in fact see that across the nation? chris: well, look. i think the obama agenda, his severance over the last two years is going to be the key issue in this election, obviously in individual races, and there are individual issues but i think to a large degree and as is often the case, a
better for you. also, you don t have to worry about like in the morning, if you take it on an empty stomach how soon you can have your breakfast, when you take it at night, doesn t matter and you don t you aren t eating in the middle of the night. some people who take their thyroid at night find that it overacted. they find that it is making them nervous, getting too much of it, and in that case you can take half notice morniin the morning night. eric: every week the doctor gives you a healthy monday tip and the one today is timely. stick around and you won t want to miss healthy monday and it is happening across the country, monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday, long lines of early voters, what does early voting mean for so many of us? long before election day. lawre, my parents want to talk to you. oh. about what? uh, they don t really think you re an exchange student. what? they think you re a businessman,
