A fireworks vendor is right outside the Vent Fitness on route 146 in Clifton Park. It’s one of several places in the town where people can buy sparkling devices, which are the only type of legal fireworks in New York. State law allows states to opt in or out of allowing the sale or use of sparking devices by passing a local law. Both Saratoga and Rensselaer county have opted to allow their sale and use.
“I suppose there’s no prohibition on it,” said Saratoga county board of supervisors member Jonathan Schopf, when asked if someone could buy fireworks in his county and use them in Albany.
